Sexually Transmitted Infections
In recent years, Fresno County has seen an increase in sexually transmitted infections. In 2017, Fresno County ranked in the top 10 highest California counties for syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea incidence rate. An incidence rate measures the number of new cases of a disease divided by the number of people in a population at risk for developing the disease. Young people ages 15-24 and some minorities are most at risk for these diseases.
